Sometimes the bottle opener has been forgotten. Or lost. Or stolen by ravens. In emergency beer-opening situations like these, a fence post may be used to pry off the cap. Notice how the bottle cap flares out away from the neck a bit. Holding the beer securely in your non-dominant hand, place the edge of the cap on the corner of the post; hold it there firmly. With the heel of your dominant hand, strike downward on the top of the bottle with a swift and intentional thwack. The cap will pop off festively. If no fence post is handy, use a table top, tree stump, or other stable object.
